ABOUT THEREMINIST, THOMAS GRILLO
I am a professional musician specializing in playing the theremin.
I am classically trained and have been playing the theremin since 2006. I enjoy playing several genres of music ranging from Classical to modern sounding forms.
I began my adventures in music back in the '70s when I learned to play the violin and the flute. I then started singing in opera choruses from the late 70s to the mid 2000s, in addition to performing with the Biloxi Opera, the Mississippi Opera and various bands as both lead and accompaniment/improvisationalist with the theremin.
In addition to the above, I have also produced theremin music for several indie produced movies such as Golgotha and Murderabilia. I also had the priviledge of collaborating with various bands and artists on their CDs and videos.
Around 2006, I started producing videos on YouTube featuring my
work with the theremin and later performed in such locations as University Hull, (UK) at Hands Off 2011; Atlanta, Georgia at the opening of the movie
Golgotha; Brooklyn, NY at Kickstarter Film Fest; Monroe, LA at the Biedenharn Museum and
Gardens; New Orleans, LA at Contemporary Arts Centre and finally Asheville, NC at Ethermusic 2008 by Moog Music.
On or about 2020, I was priviledged to be featured on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show for a brief musical appearance.
